Do you need color?

The first consideration will be if you need color or not. If you need color, there are a few options. The first option you will need to consider is the paper size the color copier needs to print. Your options will be letter / legal or 11 x 17.

Next, you need to know how many people are using the copier

If you only have a few people using the copier lightly, then you can probably get a desktop copier. If you have are doing higher volume, you will generally do better with a floor standing copier.

When does your current lease end?

The next factor you are looking at, is when the current lease ends. If it is ending in a few years, it may need to wait a bit, but if your lease is ending in the next 12 months, you may want to consider an upgrade.

As some basic guidelines, we would think this would generally work:

• 2 – 5 people – a small desktop unit ($30 per month plus prints)
• 5-14 people – Floor standing copier ($130 per month plus prints)
• 15+ – Multiple copiers or a higher volume copier ($200 – $300 per month)
